A/T Countershaft Disassembly, Inspection, and Reassembly

NOTE:
  • Some reverse selector hubs are not press-fitted, and can be removed without using the bearing separator and a press.
  • Some reverse selector hubs are not press-fitted, and can be installed without using the 40 mm inner driver handle and a press.
  1. Inspect the needle bearing for galling and rough movement.
  1. Inspect the splines for excessive wear and damage.
  1. Check the shaft bearing surface for scoring and excessive wear.
  1. Lubricate all parts with ATF during assembly.
  1. Install the conical spring washer, the reverse selector, the 35 x 47 x 7.8 mm collar, and all gears in the direction shown.
  1. Replace the locknut and the conical spring washer with new ones when assembling the transmission. The countershaft locknut has left-hand threads.
    NOTE:
    • Use a torque wrench to tighten the locknut. Do not use an impact wrench.
    • Locknut has left-hand threads.
