M/T Reverse Lockout System Circuit Troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • Refer to the How to Troubleshoot Circuits at the ECM connectors in the Fuel and Emission Systems before troubleshoot this circuit: R20A3 engine model, K24Z3 engine model.
  • When you inspect whether it is possible or not the transmission shift into reverse gear during the vehicles runs forward, raise the vehicle on the lift, make sure it is securely supported, and allow the front wheels to rotate freely.
  • Do not release the clutch pedal if you can select the transmission into reverse gear during the wheels are driven to forward.
  • When the vehicle on the lift, and you make the wheels drive, turn off the VSA system by the VSA OFF switch.
Driver can select the reverse gear when vehicle speed at 20 km/h (12 mph) or more
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Check the No. 7 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES -
Reinstall the fuse, then go to Step 3 .
NO -
Install the new No. 7 (15 A) fuse, and recheck. If the fuse continues to blow, check for short to body ground in the wire between the No. 7 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the reverse lockout solenoid or other component.■
  1. Test-drive the vehicle.
  1. Check the fuel and emissions system's DTC with the HDS.
Is any DTC in the ECM indicated?
YES -
Go to the indicated ECM DTC's troubleshooting: R20A3 engine model, K24Z3 engine model. ■
NO -
Go to Step 5 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between the reverse lockout solenoid 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
  • R20A3 engine model: Go to Step 9 .
  • K24Z3 engine model: Go to Step 14 .
NO -
Repair open in the wire between the reverse lockout solenoid and the No. 7 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.■
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  1. Disconnect ECM connector A (44P).
