DTC Troubleshooting: 74-25

DTC 74-25: 
Short to Power in the Right Side E-pretensioner Motor
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information.
  1. Clear the DTC memory.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait for 10 seconds.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait for 10 seconds.
  1. Read the DTC.
Is DTC 74-25 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) from the E-pretensioner unit.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between No. 13 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and body ground, and between the No. 14 terminal and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 V.
Is the voltage as specified?
YES -
Replace the E-pretensioner unit. ■
NO -
Open in the left engine compartment subharness (LHD models), E-pretensioner subharness (RHD models), left engine compartment wire harness, right side wire harness or right engine compartment wire harness; replace the faulty harness.■
