DTC Troubleshooting: 29

LKAS Control Unit DTC 29:
 Steering Angle Sensor (Straight Point of the Steering Angle)
  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
  1. Do the following check.
    • Suspension is not modified
    • All four tyres the correct size and the same manufacturer
    • All four tyres the correct pressure
    • Steering wheel spoke angle in the drive
    • Wheel alignment
Are they normally?
YES -
Go to Step 3 .
NO -
  • Adjust the wheel alignment
  • Adjust the tyre pressure
  • Change for the standard tyres
  • Adjust the steering wheel spork angle
  1. Start the engine and test-drive the vehicle at 36 km/h (23 mph) or more.
  1. Watch the LKAS indicator.
Does the LKAS indicator come on?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.■
  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) with HDS connected.
  1. Align the steering wheel straight ahead. Do this operation precisely, because this steering wheel position is entered the steering angle 0 degrees.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. From the HDS Inspection Menu, select Steering Angle with the HDS. While HDS operating, must not move the steering wheel.
  1. Start the engine and test-drive straight the vehicle for more than 60 seconds at 72 km/h (22 mph) or more, and check for Steering Angle 0±5 degrees in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
With the steering wheel in the straight ahead position, is STEERING ANGLE within ±5 degrees?
YES -
Go to Step 11 .
NO -
Do the memorizing of the steering angle sensor neutral position. ■
  1. Watch the LKAS indicator.
Does the LKAS indicator come on?
YES -
Go to Step 12 .
NO -
The system is OK at this time.■
  1. Check for DTC with the HDS.
Is DTC 29 indicated?
YES -
Check for loose terminals in the LKAS control unit connectors, then repair if necessary. If all connections are OK, replace the LKAS control unit. ■
NO -
Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s).■
