Power Mirrors Function Test

NOTE: The right [left] power mirror actuator is controlled by the front passenger's power window switch. When the power mirror switch is operated, the power window master switch receives the signals from the power window master switch and send them to the front passenger's power window switch. So if there is malfunction of the right [left] power mirror actuator operation, do the door multiplex control unit input test and front passenger's power window switch input test. Also, the power mirror defoggers, position sensor and retractable power mirrors are controlled by door multiplex control unit and front passenger's power window switch, do the door multiplex control unit input test and front passenger's power window switch input test.

Left (LHD model) or Right (RHD model) Power Mirror Function Test
  1. Remove the driver's door panel.
  1. Disconnect the 20P connector from the driver's door subharness.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between body ground and the No. 3 terminal of the driver's door subharness 20P connector with the ignition switch ON (II). There should be battery voltage.
    • If there is no battery voltage, check for:
    • -
      Blown No. 16 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
      -
An open in the LT GRN wire.
    • If there is battery voltage, go to Step 5 .
  1. Check for continuity between the No. 1 terminal of the driver's door subharness 20P and body ground. There should be continuity.
    • If there is no continuity, check for:
    • -
An open in the BLK wire.
      -
      Poor ground (G501).
    • If there is continuity, go to Step 6 .
  1. Connect the No. 3 and No. 14 terminals, and the No. 15 (or No. 4 [No. 5]) and No. 1 terminals with jumper wires. The left [right] mirror should tilt down (or swing left) with the ignition switch ON (II).
    • If the left [right] mirror does not tilt down (or does not swing left), check for an open in the GRY (or YEL) [LTBLU (or RED)] wire between the left [right] mirror and the 20P connector. If the wire is OK, check the left [right] mirror actuator.
    • If the mirror neither tilts down nor swings left, repair the PUR [WHT] wire.
    • If the mirror works properly, check the mirror switch.
