Faulty Front Seat Belt Reminder Light
NOTE: Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not latest, update the SRS unit software and retest.
  1. Observe these precautions:
    • Unbuckle the driver's seat belt.
    • Unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt.
    • Make sure nothing is on or under the seat.
  1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the SRS unit. If it dose not communicate, troubleshoot the DLC circuit:
    • K24Z3 engine
    • R20A3 engine
  1. From the Main Menu on the HDS, select SRS, then PARAMETER INFORMATION. In the PARAMETER INFORMATION Menu, select ‘‘SRS PSS'', and read the HDS indicated.
Is OFF indicated on the HDS?
YES -
Go to Step 8 .
NO -
Go to Step 6 .
  1. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness or SRS floor wire harness 2P connector (A) from the front passenger's seat sitting switch.
  1. From the Main Menu on the HDS, select SRS, then PARAMETER INFORMATION. In the PARAMETER INFORMATION Menu, select ‘‘SRS PSS'', and read the HDS indicated.
Is ON indicated on the HDS?
YES -
Short to ground in the front passenger's seat wire harness or SRS floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness.■
NO -
Faulty front passenger's seat sitting switch.■
  1. Observe these precautions:
    • Unbuckle the driver's seat belt.
    • Unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt.
    • I make it the state that people more than 45 kg in weight sit down on in front passenger's seat.
  1. From the Main Menu on the HDS, select SRS, then PARAMETER INFORMATION. In the PARAMETER INFORMATION Menu, select ‘‘SRS PSS'', and read the HDS indicated.
Is ON indicated on the HDS?
YES -
Go to Step 10 .
NO -
Go to Step 11 .
  1. Check the seat belt reminder light.
Does the seat belt reminder light stay on?
YES -
Faulty gauge control module.■
NO -
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and SRS unit or poor connection at front passenger's seat belt sitting switch 2P connector and front passenger's seat sitting switch. Check the connection; if connection is OK and DTC is not indicated, replace the SRS unit. ■
