Rear Brake Pad Inspection and Replacement

Inspection - Rear drum in disc brake type
  1. Raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in the proper locations.
  1. Remove the rear wheels.
  1. Check the thickness (A) of the inner pad (B) and outer pad (C). Do not include the thickness of the backing plate.
    Brake pad thickness:
    Standard:
    8.3−9.0 mm (0.33−0.35 in.)
    Service limit:
    1.6 mm (0.06 in.)

  1. If the brake pad thickness of any of the pads is less than the service limit, replace all of the rear brake pads as a set.
  1. Clean the mating surfaces of the brake disc/drum and the inside of the wheel, then install the rear wheels.
