Intake Manifold Removal and Installation

Removal
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover.

  1. Disconnect the breather pipe (A), then remove the intake air duct (B).

  1. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose (A) and brake booster vacuum hose (B).
  1. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (C), then plug the water bypass hoses.

  1. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor connector (A), the throttle actuator connector (B), and the starter subharness connector (C).
  1. EU models: Disconnect the oil level sensor subharness connector (D).
  1. Remove the harness holder (E) and the wire harness clamp bracket (F).

  1. EU models: Remove the harness clamp (A).
  1. Remove the intake manifold bracket (B).

  1. Remove the vacuum hoses (A) from the intake manifold.
  1. Remove the vacuum hose from the clamps (B).

  1. Remove the all intake manifold mounting bolts/nuts, then remove the intake manifold from the cylinder head.

  1. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose, then remove the intake manifold from the vehicle.

Installation
  1. Install the PCV hose (A) to the intake manifold (B) and the clamp (C).

  1. Install the intake manifold (A) with new gaskets (B), and tighten the bolts and nuts in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps, beginning with the inner bolt.

  1. Install the vacuum hose (A) to the intake manifold.
  1. Install the vacuum hoses to the clamps (B).

  1. Install the intake manifold bracket (A).
  1. EU models: Install the harness clamp (B).

  1. Connect the MAP sensor connector (A), the throttle actuator connector (B), and the starter subharness connector (C).
  1. EU models: Connect the oil level sensor subharness connector (D).
  1. Install the harness holder (E) and the wire harness clamp bracket (F).

  1. Install the water bypass hoses (A), the EVAP canister hose (B), and the brake booster vacuum hose (C).

  1. Install the intake air duct (A), then install the breather pipe (B).
    NOTE: When torquing the screw of the hose band (C), align the edge of the hose band (D) with the mark (E) painted on the hose band. If you tighten the screw over the mark, replace the hose band.

  1. Install the intake manifold cover.
  1. Clean up any spilled engine coolant.
  1. After installation, check that all tubes, hoses and connectors are installed correctly.
