DTC Troubleshooting: P0962 (16)

DTC P0962:
 Problem in A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve A Circuit
NOTE:
R20A3 Engine Model
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  1. Start the engine, and wait for at least 1 second.
  1. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0962 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 8 .
NO -
Go to Step 5 .
  1. Select Clutch Pressure Control (Linear) Solenoid Valve A in the Miscellaneous Test Menu, and test A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate NORMAL?
YES -
Go to Step 6 .
NO -
Go to Step 8 .
  1. In the Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Control menu, select A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A at 1.0 A.
  1. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P0962 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate FAILED?
YES -
Go to Step 8 .
NO -
If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and the PCM. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to Step 5 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  1. Disconnect PCM connectors A (44P) and C (44P).
  1. Measure the voltage between PCM connector terminals A38 and C40.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to Step 12 .
NO -
Check for a blown No. 7 fuse (15 A) in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. If the fuse is OK, repair open in the wire between PCM connector terminal A38 and the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, then go to Step 18 .
  1. Disconnect the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector.

  1. Measure the resistance between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
Is there 3−10 Ω?
YES -
Go to Step 14 .
NO -

  1. Check for continuity between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to Step 15 .
NO -
  1. Disconnect PCM connector B (44P).

  1. Check for continuity between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair short to body ground in the wire between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector terminal No. 1 and body ground, then go to Step 18 .
NO -
Go to Step 17 .

  1. Check for continuity between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector terminal No. 1 and PCM connector terminal B44.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to Step 24 .
NO -
Repair open in the wire between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector terminal No. 1 and PCM connector terminal B44, then go to Step 18 .
  1. Reconnect all connectors.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  1. Start the engine, and wait for at least 1 second.
  1. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0962 indicated?
YES -
Check for poor connections or loose terminals between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and the PCM, then go to Step 1 .
NO -
Go to Step 23 .
  1. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P0962 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate PASSED?
YES -
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs were indicated in Step 22 , go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.■
NO -
If the HDS indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and the PCM, then go to Step 1 . If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to Step 21 .
  1. Reconnect all connectors.
  1. Start the engine, and wait for at least 1 second.
  1. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0962 indicated?
YES -
Check for poor connections or loose terminals between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM, then go to Step 26 . If the PCM was substituted, go to Step 1 .
NO -
Go to Step 28 .
  1. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P0962 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate PASSED?
YES -
If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs were indicated in Step 27 , go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.■
NO -
If the HDS indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals between A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM, then go to Step 26 . If the PCM was substituted, go to Step 1 . If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to Step 26 .
