DTC Troubleshooting: 76-61, 76-62

DTC 76-61, 76-62:  
Non-Stipulated Response Data
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait for 10 seconds.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait for 10 seconds.
Are DTC 76-61 or 76-62 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
  1. Check the No. 1 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and No. 20 (30 A) fuse and No. 21 (30 A) fuse in the front passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
Are the fuses OK?
YES -
Go to Step 6 .
NO -
Replace the faulty fuse. If the problem is still present, short to ground in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box or passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box circuit.■
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Check the voltage between the No. 8 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to Step 9 .
NO -
Open between the No. 1 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the No. 8 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models).■

  1. Check the voltage between the No. 12 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to Step 10 .
NO -
Open between the No. 20 (30 A) fuse in the front passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box and the No. 12 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models).■

  1. Check the voltage between the No. 2 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 5P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 5P connector (RHD models) and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to Step 12 .
NO -
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

  1. Check resistance between the No. 10 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and body ground, and between the No. 11 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and body ground. There should be 0−1.0 Ω.
Are the resistances as specified?
YES -
Go to Step 14 .
NO -
Open between the No. 10 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and body ground, or between the No. 11 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and body ground or poor connection G303 (LHD models) or G251 (RHD models).

  1. Check resistance between the No. 2 terminals of the left engine compartment subharness 5P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 5P connector (RHD models) and body ground. There should be 0−1.0 Ω.
Are the resistances as specified?
YES -
Go to Step 15 .
NO -

  1. Check resistance between the No. 1 terminal of SRS unit connector B (39P) and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MΩ.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to Step 18 .
NO -
Short to ground between the No. 1 terminal of SRS unit connector B (39P) and the No. 6 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models).■

  1. Check resistance between the No. 1 terminal of SRS unit connector B (39P) and the No. 6 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models). There should be 0−1.0 Ω.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty E-pretensioner unit; replace the E-pretensioner unit.
NO -
Open between the No. 1 terminal of SRS unit connector B (39P) and the No. 6 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models).■
