DTC Troubleshooting: 76-48

DTC 76-48:
 Faulty Power Supply to the Left Side E-pretensioner Motor
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait for 10 seconds.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait for 10 seconds.
Is DTC 76-48 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Check the No. 21 (30 A) fuse in the front passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
Are the fuses OK?
YES -
Go to Step 7 .
NO -
Replace the faulty fuse. If the problem is still present, short to ground in the front passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.■
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Check the voltage between the No. 2 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 5P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 5P connector (RHD models) and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Check the loose terminals and poor connections at the left engine compartment subharness 5P connector No. 2 terminal (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 5P connector No. 2 terminal (RHD models). If the terminals and connections are OK, replace the E-pretensioner unit, and recheck.■
NO -
Open between the No. 21 (30 A) fuse in the front passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box and the No. 2 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 5P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 5P connector (RHD models).■
