DTC Troubleshooting: 74-22

DTC 74-22:
 Open in the Right Side E-pretensioner Motor
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait for 10 seconds.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait for 10 seconds.
Is DTC 74-22 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Check resistance between the No. 13 and No. 14 terminals of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models). There should be 0−1.0 Ω.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Check the loose terminals and poor connections at the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector terminals No. 13 and No. 14 (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector terminals No. 13 and No. 14 (RHD models). If the terminals and connections are OK, replace the E-pretensioner control unit, and recheck.
NO -
Go to Step 8 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the right side wire harness 2P connector from the right side E-pretensioner motor.

  1. Check resistance between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals of right side E-pretensioner motor 2P connector. There should be 0−1.0 Ω.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Open in the left engine compartment subharness (LHD models), the E-pretensioner subharness (RHD models), left engine compartment wire harness, right side wire harness or right engine compartment wire harness; replace the faulty harness.■
