DTC Troubleshooting: 93-01
EPS Control Unit DTC 93-01:
 A Communication Defect with LKAS Control Unit
NOTE: Information marked with an asterisk ( *1 ) applies to LHD model, an asterisk ( *2 ) applies to RHD model.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II).
  1. Watch the LKAS indicator.
Does the LKAS indicator come on?
YES -
Go to Step 4 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.■
Is DTC 93-01 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s).■
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the LKAS control unit 26P connector.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between LKAS control unit 26P connector No. 8, No. 21 terminals and body ground individually.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Repair short to power in the wire between EPS control unit and LKAS control unit.■
NO -
Go to Step 9 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Check for continuity between the LKAS control unit 26P connector No. 8, No. 12 and No. 3, No. 16 terminals.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair short in the wire between the LKAS control unit and the EPS control unit.■
NO -
Go to Step 11 .
  1. Disconnect the EPS control unit connector D (28P).
  1. Check for continuity between body ground and the LKAS control unit 26P connector No. 8, No. 21 terminals individually.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair short to body ground in the wire between EPS control unit and LKAS control unit.■
NO -
Go to Step 13 .
  1. Check for continuity between LKAS control unit 26P connector No. 21 terminal and EPS control unit connector D (28P) No. 19 terminal.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to Step 14 .
NO -
Repair open in the wire between EPS control unit and LKAS control unit.■
  1. Check for continuity between LKAS control unit 26P connector No. 8 terminal and EPS control unit connector D (28P) No. 20 terminal.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Check for loose terminals in the EPS control unit and LKAS control unit connectors, and repair if necessary. If all connections are OK, replace the EPS control unit and LKAS control unit. ■
NO -
Repair open in the wire between EPS control unit and LKAS control unit.■
