Front Seat Cushion Cover Replacement

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  • Take care not to tear the seams of damage the seat covers.
  • When removing components, use the trim tools or equivalent.
  • LHD model is shown, RHD model is symmetrical.
  1. 8-way power seat: Remove the screw, and release the hooks (A), the tabs (B), and the pin (C), then remove the front cover (D). The driver's seat is shown; the passenger's seat is symmetrical.

  1. 8-way power seat: Remove the recline cover (A). The driver's seat is shown; the passenger's seat is symmetrical.
    -1.
    Remove the screw, and detach the clip.
    -2.
    Detach the tabs (B).
    -3.
    Pull up the cover, then release the hook (C) and the tab (D).
    -4.
    Disconnect the power seat adjustment switch connector (E).
    -5.
    Detach the tabs (F), then remove the upper recline inner cover (G) from the recline cover.

  1. Manual height adjustable seat: Pull back the cap (A) to release the hooks (B), and remove the screws, then remove the height adjuster handle (C).

  1. Manual height adjustable seat: Remove the recline cover (A).

    Remove the recline knob (B) and screw.
    -2.
    Gently pull out the cover, then detach the clip, and release the hooks (C, D) and the hooks (E) of the inner recline cover (F).

  1. Manual seat: Remove the recline cover (A).
    -1.
    Remove the recline knob (B) and screw.
    -2.
    Gently pull out the cover, then detach the clip, and release the hooks (C, D) and the hooks (E) of the inner recline cover (F).

  1. 8-way power seat: Remove the center cover (A). The driver's seat is shown; the passenger's seat is symmetrical.

    Remove the screw.
    -2.
    Detach the tabs (B).
    -3.
    Pull up the cover, then release the tab (C).
    -4.
    Detach the tabs (D), then remove the upper recline inner cover (E) from the recline cover.

  1. Manual height adjustable seat/manual seat: Gently pull out the center cover (A) to detach the clip, and release the hooks (B) of the center inner cover (C), release the hook (D), then remove the cover. The manual height adjustable seat is shown; the manual seat is similar.

  1. From under the seat cushion, release the hooks (A) of the elastic strap from the seat cushion frame springs (B), then pull the undercover (C) of the back cover back.

  1. From under the seat cushion, disconnect and/or detach the connector(s):
    • Driver's seat:

      Recline motor harness connector (B) (8-way power seat)

      Seat-back heater connector (C) (8-way power seat/some manual height adjustable seat)

      Seat cushion heater connector (D) (8-way power seat/some manual height adjustable seat)
    • Passenger's seat:

      Side airbag connector (A)
      -
      Recline motor harness connector (B) (8-way power seat)
      -
      Seat-back heater connector (C) (8-way power seat without OPDS/some manual seat without OPDS)
      -
      Seat cushion heater connector (D) (8-way power seat/some manual height adjustable seat)
      -
      Passenger's seat sitting switch connector (E)
      -
      OPDS unit harness connector (F) (for some models)
  1. Detach the harness clips (G), and remove the harness clamps (H).

  1. Pull the side airbag harness (A) on all types of seats, the recline motor harness (B) on the 8-way power seat, the seat-back heater harness (C) on some types of the seats, and the OPDS unit harness (D) on the passenger's seat with OPDS out through the loops (E). The 8-way power seats are shown; other types of the seats are similar.

  1. 8-way power seat: Release the hook strips (A) from both sides of the seat cushion frame. The driver's seats are shown: the passenger's seats are symmetrical.

  1. Manual height adjustable seat/manual seat: Detach the clip, and release the hook strips (A) from both sides of the seat cushion frame. The manual height adjustable seat is shown: the manual seat is similar.
  1. Driver's 8-way power seat: Remove the power seat control unit.

  1. Release the hook strips (A) from under the seat cushion.

  1. Remove the seat cushion cover/pad (A) from the seat frame (B).

  1. Release the upholstery rings (A) fastening the seat cushion cover (B) and the under cover (C) on the seat cushion pad.

  1. Pull back the edge of the seat cushion cover all the way around, and release the upholstery rings (A), then remove the seat cushion cover (B).

  1. Install the cover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • To prevent wrinkles when installing a seat cushion cover, make sure the material is stretched evenly over the pad before securing the clips and hook strips.
    • Replace any upholstery rings you removed with new ones (A). Install them with commercially available upholstery ring pliers (B).
