Front Seat Belt
NOTE:
  1. Driver's side: Prepare a sheet of cardboard which is 2−2.5 mm (0.08−0.1 in.) thick.
    NOTE: If there is no suitable cardboard, put some seats of thin paper together until they will be required thick.
  1. Driver's side: Make a jig (A) from the prepared cardboard (B).
  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
  1. Slide the front seat forward fully.
Dimensions of the jig

  1. Driver's side: Slowly insert the jig (A) into holes (B) in the back of the lap connector cover (C).
    NOTE: Make sure the jig is perpendicular to the lap connector cover.

  1. Driver's side: With the jig (A) still inserted in the lap connector cover (B), carefully insert the tip of a small screwdriver (C) into the hole in the lap connector cover, and unlock the lap connector by pushing in on the screwdriver.

  1. Driver's side: Unbuckle the front seat belt lap connector (A).

    While pulling the front seat belt (B) upward, remove the screwdriver (C). As soon as you remove the screwdriver from the lap connector (D), the anchor connector will come off the lap connector.

    Remove the jig (E).

  1. Passenger's side: Pull the lower anchor cover (A) back, and remove the lower anchor bolt (B). Do not disassemble the lower anchor (C).
  1. Remove these items:

  1. Driver's side: Remove the seat belt outer lap tensioner (A).

    Pull the carpet (B) back as needed.

    Disconnect the seat belt outer lap tensioner connector (C).
    -3.
    Remove the lower anchor bolt (D).

  1. Remove the upper anchor bolt (A).

  1. Disconnect the seat belt tensioner connector (A) and the seat belt motor connector (B) (for some models). Remove the upper retractor mounting bolt (C) and the lower retractor bolt (D), then remove the front seat belt (E) and the retractor (F).

  1. Remove the shoulder anchor adjuster (A).

  1. Install the seat belt and the retractor in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
    • Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.
    • Assemble the washer, the collars, and the bushing on the upper anchor bolt, the lower anchor bolt, and the retractor bolt as shown.
    • Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
    • Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector and the seat belt motor connector (for some models) are plugged in properly.
    • Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.

Front Seat Belt Buckle
  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
  1. Lift up the front seat, then disconnect and/or detach the seat belt switch connecter (A), and detach the harness clip (B).
    NOTE: The front seats on LHD model are shown; the ones on RHD model are symmetrical.

  1. Remove the center anchor bolt (A), and detach the harness clips (B), then remove the seat belt buckle (C).
    NOTE: The driver's seats on LHD model are shown; the passenger's seats on LHD model are symmetrical. Both front seats on RHD model are similar.
  1. Manual seat: Release the hook strip (D), and pull back the seat cushion cover.
  1. Pull the seat belt switch harness (E) out through the space between the seat cushion and the seat track.

  1. Install the buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • Assemble the washers and the collar on the center anchor bolt as shown.
    • Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center anchor bolt before reinstallation.
    • Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to specification with a torque wrench.
    • Make sure the seat belt switch connector is plugged in properly.
    • Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
