Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position Memorization

NOTE:
  • When the following works, the steering angel sensor neutral position memorizing needs to be done. The memorizing is done by using HDS according to the screen display of the HDS.
  • Check the following before the memorizing operation. If there is malfunction, the memorizing operation may not be done and the adjustment or replacement may be required.
The work which needs steering angle sensor neutral position memorizing in.
  • Steering wheel removal/installation or replacement.
  • Combination switch assembly removal/installation or replacement.
  • LKAS control unit replacement.
  • Wheel alignment adjustment (the work which needs the attachment and removal/installation of the suspension component and the adjustment of toe).

Checking adjustment before the memorizing operation
  • Make sure the suspension is not modified.
  • Check that the suspension component or the frame has no distortion, damage or contortion.
  • Check the tyre size and tyre pressure.

    Front/Rear tyre: 225/50R17 98V or 235/45R18 98W
    -
    Front/Rear tyre pressure: 230 kPa (2.3 kgf/cm 2 , 33 psi)
  • Check the steering wheel spoke angle in the straight ahead driving position.
  1. With the vehicle on the ground, set the front wheels in the straight ahead driving position.
  1. With the ignition switch to LOCK (0), connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Select the LKAS CONTROL from the DRIVING SUPPORT menu, then enter the STEERING REWRITE.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the HDS from the data link connector (DLC).
